North West Credit Union Takes on Relay For Life Sligo 2026
At North West Credit Union (NWCU), supporting our community is at the heart of everything we do. This year, we are proud to be taking part in Relay For Life Sligo 2026, joining thousands of people across Ireland in supporting the incredible work of the Irish Cancer Society.
On 5th September 2026, a team of 13 NWCU staff members will come together at ATU Sligo to take part in the 24-hour Relay For Life event. Throughout the day and night, our team will walk in solidarity with cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and help raise much-needed funds for cancer support services and research.
Why Relay For Life Matters
Relay For Life is more than a fundraising event. It is a celebration of cancer survivors, a tribute to those we have lost, and a powerful reminder that no one should face cancer alone.
The funds raised through Relay For Life Sligo help the Irish Cancer Society provide vital services to individuals and families affected by cancer. These services include:
- Night Nursing care
- Volunteer Driver services
- The Irish Cancer Society Support Line
- Counselling and emotional support
- Life-changing cancer research
- Information and patient support programmes
These essential services make a real difference to people throughout Ireland during some of the most challenging times in their lives.
An Incredible Community Effort
Relay For Life Sligo continues to be one of the region's most inspiring community events. Earlier this year, the Relay For Life Sligo committee proudly presented an outstanding €506,620 to the Irish Cancer Society, highlighting the generosity and commitment of local businesses, organisations, volunteers and supporters.
This remarkable achievement demonstrates the impact that communities can have when they come together for a common cause.
