At North West Credit Union, we cannot achieve our objectives in the community without the commitment and support of our volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and have a few hours to spare every month for a fixed period, please read on.

North West Credit Union is seeking to form a panel of volunteers to contribute at governance level through roles on our Board of Directors, Board Oversight Committee.

Skills & Experience

We welcome individuals with backgrounds in:

Governance, Risk, or Compliance
Information Technology (including digital resilience and cybersecurity awareness)
Strategic Planning
Human Resources
Legal
Marketing
Lending / Underwriting & Credit Control (advantageous)

A working knowledge of financial reports would be beneficial and strong IT literacy is considered essential.

Regulatory Requirements

As a regulated entity, these roles are subject to the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness & Probity standards, requiring integrity, competence, sound judgement, and financial soundness.

The Ideal Applicant Should

Be a member of North West Credit Union.

Be available to attend monthly meetings, preparation and training as required (approx. 3 hours per month).

Be motivated to positively contribute and engage as part of a team within a dynamic, forward thinking Community Organisation.

Live/Work within the Common Bond of North West Credit Union.

Recognise the important role that the Credit Union plays in our community.

Be willing to upskill and embark on the necessary training for the role.

  • As we receive a high-volume of volunteer applications, we cannot accept everyone.
  • Being a Volunteer is a Governance role, therefore, there is no Operational work involved within the various departments in North West Credit Union.
  • All volunteers will undergo a Fitness and Probity review on application.
