Olympic Boxer Dean Clancy Rejoins North West Credit Union Team

Olympic boxer Dean Clancy is returning to North West Credit Union, formerly Sligo Credit Union, as a Brand Ambassador under a new three-year partnership. This collaboration aligns with the Credit Union’s Sports Bursary Programme, which supports and inspires young athletes across Sligo, Leitrim, and the newly expanded Common Bond areas of Boyle and Keadue in Roscommon.

Dean, Sligo’s first-ever Olympic-qualified boxer, remains dedicated to the sport as he continues training with his sights set firmly on the 2028 Olympic Games.

“I’m delighted to return as a Brand Ambassador for North West Credit Union as I prepare for an exciting 2026 on the road to LA 2028,” said Dean. “The support I received from the team in the lead-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics was incredible, and I’m so grateful for it. My journey, from dreaming big as a 10-year-old to competing in Paris and now training for the Los Angeles Olympics, has always been driven by hard work and belief, values I proudly share with North West Credit Union.”

In October 2025, Sligo Credit Union rebranded as North West Credit Union to reflect the continued growth of its Common Bond area. Established in 1965, the Credit Union has long been a cornerstone of the Sligo community and has expanded through mergers with Collooney in Co. Sligo, Drumkeerin in Co. Leitrim, and Boyle and Keadue in Co. Roscommon.

The new name reflects the organisation’s wider reach while maintaining its core mission, to support members every step of the way.
